Our Core Values

Compassion

Compassion is the heart of our life together, showing up for one another in joy and in sorrow, offering empathy, presence, and care without condition. We strive to meet people where they are, recognizing the image of God in every person and honoring Christ’s call to serve the least of these (Matthew 25:40). As the Apostle Paul writes, “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). This compassion is expressed through our Mission, Outreach, and Care teams, who extend love in practical, thoughtful ways within and beyond our church. Compassion grounds our community in love that listens, serves, and sustains.

Generosity

Generosity is not measured by abundance, but by the spirit in which we give, like the woman who offered two small coins with great faith (Mark 12:41–44), we believe in sharing our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness (The United Methodist Church Membership Vows) with one another and with our neighbors, giving as we are able and doing so with joy, as scripture teaches, “The community of believers was one in heart and mind… they held everything in common” (Acts 4:32), generous hospitality is part of who we are, welcoming others with open hearts and open hands, in all things, we give not out of obligation but out of gratitude.

Open-Mindedness

Open-mindedness means we come as we are, with hearts ready to listen, learn, grow, and be transformed, we honor the dignity of every person and hold space for respectful dialogue, even when we disagree, as James teaches, “be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger” (James 1:19), and as Paul reminds us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds” (Romans 12:2), we seek a community where transformation is possible and grace leads the way.

Perseverance

Perseverance means we keep showing up, even when life is hard or we fall short, grounded in faith and trust in God, we press on with courage, humility, and hope, as Paul writes, “we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed… struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9), with grateful hearts, we remember that God is our strength and our shield, the one in whom we place our trust and the source of our help and our song (Psalm 28:7), we are a people who keep going not because it is easy, but because God is faithful.

Nourishment

Nourishment begins with food. As the early church gathered, “they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and generous hearts” (Acts 2:46), we seek to do the same in our church home. We love to gather around tables because feeding one another is part of how we share God’s grace. Jesus fed the hungry with loaves and fish, making sure people were cared for before he preached or prayed with them (Matthew 14:13–21). We also believe in the deep nourishment of the spirit. In worship, fellowship, study, and especially in the Sacrament of Holy Communion, we are fed by Christ’s presence and sustained by God’s love.

Creativity

Creativity is one of the ways we reflect the image of God, who made the heavens, the earth, and each of us with care and imagination (Genesis 1). We express that creativity in worship through meaningful liturgy, thoughtful preaching, and music that stirs the soul. We bring our best through our voices, instruments, ideas, and offerings, trusting that God uses every gift. Creativity also shows up in our outreach efforts, from blessing bags to seasonal drives and handmade signs of care. In all things, we believe the Spirit moves through the joy of trying something new, including in how we care for creation through acts of environmental justice and faithful ecological stewardship.
