HOLY WEEK &
EASTER AT GRACE
Palm Sunday, April 2
10:00am Worship with Liturgy of the Palms and Holy Communion
In all four of the Gospel accounts of the life of Jesus, he descends from the Mount of Olives and moves toward Jerusalem where he celebrates Passover and is faced with his impending execution. We will read this story from scripture, wave palm branches in honor of our king, and share Holy Communion together.
Holy Wednesday, April 5
12:15pm Midweek Holy Communion
In this 30-minute service, we hear scripture, sing a hymn, and share in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. During this Holy Week, it invites us to Christ's table to sustain us to Easter.
Holy Thursday, April 6
7:00pm Maundy Thursday with Footwashing and Holy Communion
Many of us have seen the famous DaVinci painting, “The Last Supper.” Our Thursday worship is the remembrance and celebration of that event in scripture. We will read this story from scripture, share in a meaningful time of foot or handwashing, break the bread of Communion together, and prepare the church for the sadness of Good Friday.
Good Friday, April 7
7:00pm A Service of Tenebrae ("Shadows")
This is one of the hardest days of the Christian year. We know we worship a triumphant God, yet for a few days we have to face the world without Jesus, as Jesus’ disciples and family did after his execution. This service includes a reading of the passion story from scripture, music that invites us to contemplate, and a metaphor of extinguishing light.
Easter Sunday, April 9
10:00am Festive Worship with Holy Communion, Brass, and Handbells
11:30am Egg Hunt for Children
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! We celebrate this most holy of days with a joyful service of worship that includes Holy Communion with uplifting music by our Chancel Choir, brass ensemble, and the Grace Ringers handbells.
